Project Scope

This 16,100 SF roof replacement project took place at one of the most historic private institutions in the country in South Hadley, Massachusetts. This project came to Supreme through an architectural engineering firm, and they wanted a qualified commercial roofing contractor that could install a Siplast two-ply modified bitumen roof system, as well as a standing seam section on a roof replacement project

The preexisting system on this commercial roof included an old EPDM membrane with ballasted roof stone. The scope of work called for removing all of the ballast and the EPDM roof down to the existing concrete deck.

After this stage of the project was completed, our Supreme Team installed a two-ply, cold applied Siplast modified bitumen roof system. On the standing steam roof section, our team installed a Firestone UC-6 in-seam baton system.

Our team also installed gutters, coping cap, snow rails on various areas of the building. We designed and installed an O’Keefs ladder system to allow for access from the lower to upper roof sections. On the north lower roof, pivot point, and upper roof, we installed Garlock fall protection systems to provide safe roof access in the high-risk areas of the installed commercial roof. On the main foot traffic areas, our commercial roofing team installed Siplast Paratread walkway pads to extend the life of the high traffic walkway areas.

The biggest challenge from this project involved trying to navigate the COVID-19 protocols on campus, keeping all of the students safe. Our commercial roofing crews and superintendents always wore proper masking and washed hands regularly to ensure the safest conditions for everyone involved, as well as, not entering the building during the life of the project.
