Project Scope

The Pope Block Building Project was a roof replacement and restoration project completed for the City of Pueblo (Colorado). This historic building spanned over 100 years old and had multiple existing roof systems in place on an approximately 30,000 square foot roof with four to five different levels with different roofs on it. Each roof area faced different issues, but the overall issues pointed to roof leaks in several different areas. Budgeting presented the biggest challenge for the client as they needed to work within their budget while coming away with the best warrantable commercial roof system possible that would last them for many years to come.

One of the roof areas spanned about 3600 SF of built-up roofing system with multiple systems over 100 years. Our commercial roofing crews removed multiple layers of the original roof system down to the wood sheathing decking. After that, our team applied R-30 insulation and a GAF TPO Rhinobond system, meeting the warranty specs with the wind uplift and other variables.

The majority of the other roof areas contained existing modified bitumen roof systems, replaced around 30 to 40 years ago. Most of those areas faced leak issues in multiple different areas. With the budget restrictions and particular circumstances on those areas, we ended up applying an 838 coating and getting the customer a 10-year warranty. The 838 Coating manufacturer walked and scanned the roof with our project manager, and those areas turned out very good – worked well for the customer, met their budget giving them a watertight building.

The City of Pueblo manages hundreds of buildings in need of repair and must maintain them in the best way they can. Budgeting played a big role throughout the life of the project, and Supreme provided quality solutions that met the client’s needs and stayed within their budget.
