Project Scope

This green roof project is located on the 23rd floor balcony of a high-rise office building in downtown Dallas. What started out as a modification to the existing roof developed into a full roof replacement to help create a more entertaining and fun work environment.

Based on its location, the project brought many unique complexities that are not seen on typical re-roofing projects.

Because of the building’s location, all the materials and trash had to be loaded and unloaded through the freight elevator while keeping the interior of the building clean with no accidental damages.

The flashing heights for the penetrations were substantially lower than the preferred industry standard, which brought the challenge of how to terminate the roof membrane to prevent rain from entering the system. With the collaboration of our trusted Firestone partners, we were able to install a cutting-edge flashing detail that had just previously been developed by Firestone.

To compensate for all the ensuing traffic and weight that would be forthcoming with the pavers, planters, and nanostructure, Supreme installed a gypsum coverboard to account for the weight and added membrane along the membrane seams. This was a precautionary measure versus what you would normally see, to ensure a leak-free system.

This project lasted over a year given all the trades involved and COVID-19 precautionary measures, but our team feels very strongly about this project.

This roof had to be installed to strict specifications of the architect to meet the demands of the finished landscape. With the historic storms that swept through Texas in February of 2021, the roof sustained no leaks, and our Supreme Team could not be prouder of the work that was done. The size of this roof truly does not speak to the complexity of it.  We cannot wait to watch the fantastic events that will take place on this balcony deck for years to come.
